Made From Beauty New Revlon Mascaras 2016At the beginning of this year, Revlon made a bold move. Probably the boldest move a highstreet makeup brand has made in a long time: they discontinued all of their mascara formulations and relaunched a whole new mascara menu.

Personally, I really love this move, I had never found an amazing mascara from Revlon before, so the idea of 5 brand new formulas, for 5 different looks, was welcome to this beauty addict!

I’ve picked up three from the new mascara collection to try out, The Ultra Volume, The Volume & Length Magnified and The All-In-One, here were my thoughts…

Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara

First up, the Ultra Volume. I love a good amount of volume in my mascara, like most of us do, so I couldnt wait to try this one out. The brush looked promising, a fat, traditional bristle brush loaded with just the right amount of product to coat the lashes.

I’m sad to say this mascara really disappointed me. It didn’t provide very much volume at all on my lashes (and ironically gave the least amount of volume compared to the other formulas I’ve tried from the range), it took four coats to build up the volume you see above – which I haven’t really got time for! I also found that this formula smudged on my bottom lashes, which although is something I struggle with, other mascaras at the same price point have conquered. The formula was very black, didn’t flake and was easy to remove however.

Revlon Volume & Length Magnified Mascara

Revlon say this mascara offers a ‘mega amplified’ look and I have to agree there! This has to be one of the best mascaras I’ve tried for a long time. The brush is similar to the Ultra Volume with a traditional wand and bristles, however is a little slimmer, making it easier to use.

I achieved the look above in two coats which really impressed me. I was also impressed to find that throughout the day I had no flaking or smudging (brownie points there) the formula stayed very black and it was easily buildable if I wanted to amp up my look for the evening. The mascara gave just enough volume for the day time and a lovely amount of length to the lashes – I think we’re on to a winner here guys!

Revlon All-In-One Mascara

Are you ready for some mixed thoughts here? I’m so in two minds about the All-In-One mascara. On the one hand the formula does offer amazing job at lengthening and volumising, but on the other hand, the wand is a tricky one. A small, plastic, very flexible, oval-shape, hollow in the middle, surrounded by short bristles.

When I first opened the tube I was a bit shocked at how small the wand was, sure it allows you to get expertly into the inner and outer corners of the eye, reaching the most difficult of lashes to coat, but that all takes time. I couldn’t use this mascara everyday because it would just take too long to get this effect (this is three full coats) but for special occasions, or along side another mascara, I absolutely love this product and I’m glad I added it to my collection!

In collection there’s also the Dramatic Definition and the Super Length mascaras left for me to try. Have you tried any of the new Revlon mascaras? If so which one did you pick up? Or which one is on your wishlist? Let me know in the comments below!
