Made From Beauty Bourjois Aqua Blush ReviewIt has taken me a while to get onboard with the Bourjois Aqua Blushes. I brought three a little while ago, convinced they would be the perfect addition to a dewy, summer complexion. For a pop of colour across the cheeks, this product looked perfect and I couldn’t wait to get to work with them.

But after a week of trying to make them work for me, I abandoned them in my complexion drawer and that was that. I found the blushes to come across a little patchy and uneven in colour. They didn’t mix well with my foundations and looked chunky if they even touched a bit of face powder.

I knew I had to be doing something wrong because I had read so many reviews claiming they were brilliant, pretty and easy to apply. Yet every time I pumped a small amount of the product on my hand, picked it up with a brush and tried to blend it in, I was left with a big patchy mess!

Well ladies, as usual, I was making life harder for myself. I had been picking up the wrong tool all this time. The brush just wasn’t cutting it and my fingers really weren’t getting the effect I thought they would…in step the Beauty Blender!

If you read my Three Tools Every Woman Needs for Better Makeup, then you’ll know I highly recommend the Beauty Blender or the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to apply liquid products, so you would have thought I’d practise what I preach!?

After trying the Aqua Blushes with the Beauty Blender for the first time, I was in love! Using a sponge meant an even distribution of colour, easy to blend pigment and just enough with every bounce to build things up slowly. There was also the added benefit that I wasn’t moving any of the foundation underneath so my base stayed flawless.

The shades I picked up were CocorilCorail, Pink Twice and Berry Nice.

CocorilCorail (left) is a bright peachy coral, and maybe not the best colour for my complexion at the moment, but I imagine it would look beautiful with a tan. Pink Twice (middle) is the shade I’ve been wearing the most, its a classic pink that adds a healthy pop of colour without being to ‘Barbie’. Finally, Berry Nice (right) is a stunning light berry shade that works well in the summer but is also a shade that can be worn all year long.

All the shades sheer out to a light wash of colour when applied to the skin, the perfect formula for that barely-there-natural makeup look.

So do they last 12 hours like Bourjois claim? Well, I’ve worn them for ten hours and I can say they held up very very well. There was a slight loss of insanity, but that is expected with any product. So all in all, I am very impressed and they are some of the longest lasting, prettiest blushers I’ve tried in a very very long time.

Also, in Superdrug stores currently, if you purchase three or more Bourjois products you can pick up these black sunnies for free. They also come in a cute grey and yellow case to keep them safe. I was actually so happy with these, as a free gift, they really aren’t bad, I’d actually wear them!

So have you tried the Bourjois Aqua Blushes? Did you find them hard to work with too? Or if you’ve never tried them, would the free sunglasses at Superdrug tempt you? Let me know in the comments below!
