GUERLAIN Meteorites Pearls

There are very few makeup items I buy on the spare of the moment impulse. I normally have some sort of idea if I’m going to like a product before I even see it in real life because of all the blogs and reviews I read. Sometimes, however, with the ease of FeelUnique and PayPal some things just kind of jump into my basket and magically end up on my doorstep. And it certainly was some kind of magic when I unwrapped this beauty; the Guerlain Météorites Light Revealing Pearls Of Powder.

I have always been intoxicated with Guerlain makeup, it has always seemed to be the height of luxury. So in a move very unlike me, I brought my first Guerlain product despite knowing nothing about it.

Maybe my sudden impulse was brought on by the packaging, maybe it was the promise of ‘stardust’ technology and a ‘halo of light’ that would radiate from my skin, who knows!? But after having it a good few months I’m ready to share my thoughts…

First things first, let’s just address that it is one of the most beautiful makeup products I’ve very laid my eyes on, packaging wise (maybe not on the skin but we’ll get to that). Yes it looks incredible on your vanity, yes it’s perfect for Pinterest photos, but don’t let that be the reason to purchase!

The pearls are heavily scented, which wasn’t a probably for me as I’m a fan of traditional floral scents in powders, but it may be a little over powering for some.

The powder puff it comes with is completely pointless and honestly only helps cushion the pearls in transit if you buy online. Get yourself a big fluffy brush and swirl it around to your hearts content!

Whilst you have in hand said fluffy brush, apply the powder to your décolletage, this will look beautiful! The powder creates a glow on the skin and softly smooths things out, perfect for small amounts of skin on show.

The reason I say go to town on the décolletage is that you’ll be using this one sparingly on the face. I must say, I was a little disappointed to find flecks of glitter detectable on my cheeks and forehead the first time I used it. I was expecting the powder to be a glow-giving, correcting finishing powder considering Guerlain say it has ‘mauve to catch the light, pink for youthful glow and yellow to illuminate and counter redness’.

However with the slightly chunky glitter, the finish isn’t always as subtle as I thought it might be. For a setting powder/highlighter I would say save some of your pennies and opt for one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, which are stunning and easier to use. I have a review of the shade Diffused Light here.

The shade I picked up in the Guerlain Météorites Light Revealing Pearls Of Powder was Medium, however I found that the powder came off colourless, which I am actually a fan of. As a setting/highlighter powder on the high points of the face this product is not so bad. If you use a light hand you can get the benefits of the finely milled, refined powder that feels oh so luxurious to use.

After about three hours of wear is when this powder comes into it’s own! Wait for the glittery bits to fade away and the powder to mix slightly with your foundation, and that’s when you’ll get the glow we’re all searching for!

Have you tried the Guerlain Météorites Light Revealing Pearls Of Powder? I would love to know your thoughts, have I been a little harsh?
