A luxury I didn’t expect to come from working at home? Being able to play with makeup again. For a long time makeup had become a necessity, just something I had to do each morning, something else to snatch away precious blogging time. Now I’m at home more now, I actually have the freedom to try out new products, give them wear tests & experiment with different looks.
A product I have been playing around with a lot recently is the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette from Just My Look. In the past few months I’ve had a bit of a new found love for Urban Decay eyeshadows. It all started with me trying out their Petite Heat Palette & suddenly fell head over heels for their buttery textures. I’ll pop the link to my Instagram video featuring the Petite Heat palette in HERE so you can see them in action.
And although the Petite Heat palette is beautiful, sometimes on an everyday basis, I wasn’t feeling the warm, reddish tones. Which is why the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics palette has been coming in so handy recently. First up; these shadows are all matte, which has always been my favourite eyeshadow situation (despite my recent purchase of one of the new Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadows, but let’s ignore that). Being all matte, the Ultimate Basics palette allows you to create any look from subtle to smokey. I’ve been like a kid in a candy shop trying out new shades and dipping my toes into different looks. Sure, 9 times out of ten no one but me & the postman see my extravagant, spotlight, Instagram worthy looks, but who cares? I’m having fun.
That’s what I really love about this palette; being able to achieve so many looks easily from all ends of the makeup artist spectrum. (Normally my makeup talents place me firmly at the intermediate level of blending skills, but it’s nice to dream). It’s also great that you can totally use this palette for the matte shades needed in more outlandish looks. So if you’re into colourful smokey eyes, or deep, dark sultry looks then this palette has brilliant base shades to offer you – perfect for a makeup artist kit.
Have you ever tried any Urban Decay eyeshadows before? If so, I’d love to know how you got on with them. Let me know in the comments below!
