The more I experiment with makeup, the more I enjoy wearing false lashes. They really are the best way to truly glam up a look in an instant. When I first started wearing false lashes, I always kept them small and light. Now, I have been experimenting with larger, more fun styles and loving the ‘lashes for days’ look.

Recently I have been trying out some styles from Prima Lashes. The first style is a 100% Mink Hair lash called ‘Sweet’. Normally, I would have shied away from mink lashes because of worries over how they are manufactured, however; Prima Lashes source all of their mink hair humanely and ethically. The style ‘Sweet’ are beautifully fluttery and sultry, extending out at the edge of the eye. I love styles like this because they elongate the eye and give that slight ‘cat-eye’ look. I found this style surprisingly easy to apply and so comfortable to wear. As a bit of a newbie to bigger lashes, I wasn’t expecting to love this style just as much as I did!

I have been totally converted to mink lashes after trying this pair! The fact that the handmade lash features naturally tapered real hairs means each hair fiber is unique, more a more natural effect. I would only repurchase if I could be sure a brand were using cruelty-free mink fur, but it is definitely something I’d look into again. I loved the end result; so soft and fluffy, but I also like that these real hair lashes are so durable and can be reused up to 20-25 times.

The next style of lashes I have been trying out is the Velvet Prima Lash in ‘Lemon Drop’. When I first saw these in the packaging, I was a little scared. I thought there was no way I would be able to wear them – but after cutting down the inside of the lashes (top tip to make lashes fit your eyes better) I was blown away. The Velvet lashes have almost 2 layers of lashes along the strip, making them appear fluffier and more voluminous on the eyes. Personally I only feel conformable wearing this type of style with a winged liner too (another tip; it hits the lash band).

So have you ever tried any slightly out-of-your-comfort-zone lashes? If so, were you pleasantly surprised like me? Let me know in the comments!
