Any British person will say one thing about this winter: it hasn’t been as bad as the last. We’ve had a lot warmer season than usual, which although is good for our heating bill, isn’t so good for my wardrobe. You see, until a couple of weeks ago, I had a couple of huge winter coats and lots of lighter jackets, but nothing in between. So I was on the hunt for a slightly lighter weight coat to see me right the way through this practically tropical winter to spring.
And where did I go first? Well, ASOS of course! There are many reasons why I turn to ASOS when I’m looking to add a piece to my collection. For one their prices are affordable, their clothing is normally good quality, I’ve paid for free next day delivery for a whole year (yes I’m that addicted) and their pieces are always on trend. As the selection on ASOS is normally very trend driven, it can sometimes be difficult to find good basics or more classic items on their site, which is why I was surprised to find this Pea Coat in the sale for only £25.00!
It was the perfect item is been looking for; slightly lighter in weight, a slightly shorter length (it hits me just below the bum) and can be worn day or night.
Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have picked up a Pea Coat if it wasn’t for the affordability of this one, because I always assumed it wouldn’t be very flattering for my body shape. I’m a pear shape, with a big hips and larger thighs, so a straight-up-and-down shape coat would never have been on my wishlist. But as this was in the sale I thought I might as well try it out, and boy do I love it!
The coat is warm enough that I can wear it out on a ‘winter’ walk with a jumper and scarf underneath, which is just what I wanted. I love the slightly brown buttons, they add a little something-something, whilst keeping the look classic.
There’s something chic about this coat worn with a satchel, jeans slightly turned up, hair in a messy bun, and stripes up top – I feel very Pinterest!
