Made From Beauty The Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette ReviewIf you’re a bit of a beauty geek, there’s a new tool on the block you need to try…the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette. The Pixiwoo sisters, Sam and Nic, have finally brought the ultimate brush cleansing tool to the British highstreet, so go alongside their already hugely popular brush line.

If you follow the latest beauty launches and innovations, you’ll know that the beauty world last year saw a few of these cleansing palettes of mats released to the industry – with one major drawback – they were all exclusive to America. So the introduction of a tool like this in the UK is pretty exciting stuff! I’ve put it to the test, along with the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel:

The palette is a palm sized, bright pink silicone tray with a strap on the back to allow you to slip it onto the hand when washing brushes; I found the tray easy to hold and use because of this strap. The tray is covered in three different textures to really get to work at cleaning your brushes bristles.

I was also testing out the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel at the same time. So first I slightly dampened the tray, creating a small pool of water to dip my brushes into, and then squeezed a generous amount of the Cleansing Gel onto the palette before getting stuck in.

By swishing the wet brushes across the different textures, the palette really lets you get a deep clean very quickly. I was so surprised at how easily the silicone textures pulled the foundation away from the bristles of this Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

The Cleansing Gel created a nice enough lather and seemed to be cleaning my brush well, but after a few brushes I switched to my beloved Dr.Bronner’s Magic Soap – my first choice for brush cleansing and that’s when the palette really came into it’s own.

I found the Brush Cleaning Palette gave my brushes a seriously deep clean and fast! Faster than using my hands, and certainly more efficiently. Sure, this tool isn’t a necessity, but if you’re a makeup artist with lots of brushes to clean, or just a bit of a makeup geek like me, I know you’d benefit from having one of these in your collection.
