With a new year brings new skin. I’ve always been someone who likes to look after their skin, and so for Christmas last year (that’s feels strange writing that!) my very thoughtful mum brought me a cult skincare item that I’ve been lusting after for years: The Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II Serum. This serum has been a beauty editors favourite for decades, so I’m so exciting to finally have it in my collection.
First up, the serum is great to use, the glass bottle feels luxurious to the touch, the pipette allows you to dispense the right amount of product with ease and the product feels like the quality you’d expect.
One of the reasons why I was so drawn to this skincare product for so long is that it isn’t a specifically ‘anti-ageing’. In my early 20’s turning back the clock isn’t my main concern, I would rather a serum help restore my skin to the best quality it can be in at this time and help fight against ageing as it happens.
The Advanced Night Repair Serum is packed full of antioxidants and repairing agents, giving the skin the once over with a little added nourishment. There’s many vitamins to help restore skin to its natural radiance, plump and even help with the odd fine line as they form.
Beauty lovers might well know that the Synchronized Recovery Complex II recently replaced the old Lauder Synchronized Recovery Complex. The brand updated their cult serum with the addition of propanediol to aid penetration into the skin which is great, and hydrolysed align as a thickener which is a bit ‘meh’, not really changing the experience dramatically.
I was surprised at first at how quickly the Advanced Night Repair Serum sunk into my skin. I thought I’d have a bit of play time to massage it into the skin. But this isn’t really a downside, rather a stamp of the ingredient quality. In the majority of ‘moveable’ serums there’s a lot of silicone, which although might give you lots of time to massage the product in and give the skin an instant softness, doesn’t really have any long term benefits. This is something I love about this skincare, there’s nothing there that doesn’t need to be; there’s no fancy colouring or scent – just ingredients that will get down to business!
I’ve been using the serum for about a week now and I can already see an improvement in my skin, which is a very quick turnaround for a skincare item. My skin is brighter, clearer and more even in texture. I must admit, I didn’t have awful skin to begin with, but I’ve seen the Advanced Night Repair Serum do wonders for refining it. My skin is also retaining moisture so much better that before.
Have you tried the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II Serum before, or is it on your wishlist? Let me know in the comments below!
P.S: If you’re wondering about my dressing gown, I wrote a whole post on this gloriously snuggly thing and my nail polish is coming up in a post very soon!
P.P.S: I seriously hope I didn’t scare you all off going makeup free in this post! Thanks for reading!

Ooh do I like a good serum! this one sounds lovely, I hear so many good reviews about it. I would love to get it but I just lost my job so I can offer the tag price but I literally just ordered online the Delia Viatmins A+E+F intensive serum which is more affordable until I get new job. It is my first buy from this range so we shall see.
By the way your pictures looks great and you look fine without make up.

This sounds like a good serum. Perfect to moisturise and stop the skin drying from the harsh winter and heating.
Absolutely! I’m excited to see if I get visible improvement over a longer period of use.
Thank you for your comment x
I’ve had my eye on this serum for ages, it looks amazing. And you look so pretty without make-up! Katie xx

I know recently a magazine was giving away a free mini of it, would be an awesome way to try before you buy!
Thanks for stopping by! x
Oh really! That would be an awesome way to try it!!
Funnily enough I also asked for and got this serum for Christmas, but two years ago! I used it for about six months and I loved it to pieces. I seemed to always be having a “good skin day” when I was using it!
And let’s be real, you look gorgeous without makeup on :)

That’s exactly what I’d describe it as too, a good skin day!
Thank you for your kind words!
I’ve been using this since September and absolutely love it! Don’t know what I was doing without it. Not looking forward to the painful repurchase though when it runs out. Great post :)

No the repurchase is gonna hurt haha! Such a lovely product, thank you for your comment x
I’ve been wanting to try this for so long. I’ll need to save though because buying just one Esteé Lauder product at a time is difficult! This sounds like just what my skin needs and like you I would want it to rejuvenate and keep my skin looking it’s best, although coming up to 27 I am starting to think a little more about anti ageing!
I know what you mean, I was lucky enough to be gifted this but Lauder is expensive. I would say though that this is one of their products I actually think is worth the splurge.
Thank you for your comment x
I’ve heard INCREDIBLE things about this serum, I’m just scared about using it on my super oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin!

I have heard that this product helps balance the skin, and as it is a light, quickly absorbing serum it should be great for oily skin types. I am unsure about the sensitively part, from what I have read there’s a chance that the peptides may irritate some skin types, so maybe try before you buy!

Really glad you enjoyed the post!
I have heard some great things about this, I want to give it a try but I aren’t sure whether I could ever justify spending so much unless it really worked wonders!
I’m still yet to see if it totally transforms my skin, I couldn’t justify the price for a long time which is why I’m so glad I was gifted it!
