In the beauty world, there are two brands that always jump out at me when I think of luxury: Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.
I haven’t been able to part with my cash for anything from Chanel yet, although there are a few bits I’d like to pick up!
But I’ve been able to work up a little collection of YSL goodies over the past couple of years, so I thought I’d put a post together to take a closer look at the brand.
The first item, I’ve raved about time and time again on Made From Beauty, was a Christmas present and ever since then, I’ve been hooked. The iconic Touche Éclat has been one of my go to products for months now. I reach for it to brighten areas of the face, and the salmon undertone of the shade Luminous Radiance canceled out the blue colouration of the undereye. I have talked more about this product in this post.
Another Christmas present was the YSL Eyebrow Pencil, and I have to say it was a bit of a let down. The colour of this pencil was far too warm to ever really work in the brows, as well as the formula was too soft to create fine strokes for a natural look.
The next YSL I picked up was the gorgeous Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation. As I mentioned in my ‘Why I Wear Makeup’ post, this has to be one of my holy grail items. Skin like, buildable coverage that gives the skin radiance that lasts all day – not bad if I say so myself!
A few months ago feelunique were having a bit of a sale so I jumped at the chance to snap up this Couture Eyeshadow Palette from the Rock Sequins collection. Five beautiful, buttery shades all with the baddest rock chick in mind. There’s a silvery grey, a stunning icy champagne glitter, a rich black glitter, a taupey grey all centered around one of the most beautiful matte blacks I’ve ever come across. These shades are still available on the YSL website, as the Couture Palette in Tuxedo. I can’t wait to put together a dark, smokey evening look with this palette – if only I had somewhere to wear it…
One YSL item I have defiantly got my wear out of is the Rouge Volupte Lipstick in shade nine. A beautiful deep fuchsia that looks stunning applied heavily to the lips or patted in with a finger. The Rouge Volupte Lipsticks are some of the best on the market in my opinion, they are smooth moisturising, rich in pigment and long lasting. Sound like your dream lipstick? Believe me…they are!
So there’s my quick sweep of the YSL beauty range, a few key products, one holy grail and one miss. Have you tried any YSL products? I’d love to know what you thought, leave me a comment below.
Next on my list to try is the Youth Liberator Foundation, it honestly looks to die for!
