With the weather pushing 30ºC in the UK, it’s getting hotter than most of us can bear! We really weren’t ready for this sudden change in temperatures; my Twitter and Facebook feeds are full of everyone and anyone moaning about their sunburn or unfortunate stickiness (gross)! And I’m no better, today I’m going to share with you a product I picked up to help combat a sweaty face!I am firmly in the camp of people that face wipes should never be used as part of your skincare regime. I’ll allow them for occasional eye makeup removal, or in extreme emergencies – i.e you have no access to running water for the foreseeable future (I think we’d all class that as an emergency).
But today’s post is in part a rave about these face wipes, and also an apology to skincare fantastical Caroline Hirons.
Now before we get into it, lets just the apology out of the way. You might recall, Caroline’s famous quote, that wipes are for the three F’s – ‘fanny’s, flights and festivals’. I wholeheartedly agree with this! The long and short of it is that face wipes often dry the skin, stripping it of its good natural oils and above all, DO NOT GET THE SKIN CLEAN.
That’s right ladies, if you’ve been using a wipe to take your makeup off, I promise you, you are not cleaning your skin properly.
So dear Caroline, I am sorry, very very sorry…but I’m melting. In fact, at the time of reading I might be in a puddle on the floor.
I needed something that I could use throughout the day to erm…de-sweat. I’m sorry, had to be said! But in hot weather my skin sweats, including that on my face. When I’m out of the house, I can’t always get to a sink, so these Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes have become a bit of a life saver.
It’s been so hot I haven’t even been wearing a stich of makeup, so I wasn’t looking for something to ‘remove’ anything, but just to refresh. Their cucumber packaging sucked me in.
And you know something? I’m glad it did!
Having these on hand throughout the day to quickly swipe over the face, refresh everything and depart a little cooling cucumberiness is just what the doctor ordered.
What are your tips and tricks for staying cool in this weather? And have you been braving makeup? Let me know in the comments!
Sam
Again, sorry Caroline!

As terrible as face wipes can be on the skin, I think exceptions are certainly needed during the weather UK are currently having. Plus these sound pretty good especially since you are using them to refresh your skin during the sweaty day x

I live in Phoenix and heat is a major issue here. We reach 48 degrees Celsius in the summer. With monsoon season in July – Sept, add some humidity and it’s like death. There’s not much I can do. I honestly try to stay indoors when it’s this bad. And I mean you sweat everywhere when it’s that hot. Ugh, it’s just gross.
We in the UK just aren’t used to it! We’re all going around moaning about it haha!
Sometimes there’s no saving things, you just got to cope with sweating – ugh it is gross!
