When I read blogs I like to research a few products before buying them, and so I always find a few disappointing products posts helpful. Today I thought it would be worth updating you on a few items I have added to my stash in the past few months, whilst sticking my ore in about some popular products.
The Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer
I purchased this product a little while ago, full of excitement about its cult status, and after a few months of use, I’ve got some bad news. I just can’t make this work for me. I’ve used it mixed with moisturisers, like the brand suggests. I’ve used it neat to cover blemishes. I’ve even tried it under my eyes – disaster. And nothing seems to work. There’s just too much slip to it, I can’t manage to get it to sit well with my skin. I know there must be a reason why this is a makeup artists favorite the world over, so if you have any suggestions please let me know in the comments.
The L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream
Another base product that just hasn’t work for me is the L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream. Considering this product only comes in two shades, it wouldn’t surprise me if I’m not the only one this hasn’t worked for. The shade always seems a little off for me. The product comes out white with small beads that pop and transform it into a thin skin coloured liquid. Also, considering it’s a BB cream, supposedly with skin benefits packed in, I wasn’t expecting such a dry formula. I’m you’re a good match to this with oily skin, I would imagine that this product would work pretty well for you. The coverage it buildable, and it does stick around quite well for such a light formula.
The Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 05 Lovely Pink
The last product I was disappointed by was a real surprise, considering I love the other shades in the line. But the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 05 Lovely Pink was a real let down. If you read my review of the Creme Puff Blushes, you’ll know I was really impressed by the formula of this new Max Factor release. The shade Lovely Pink, however, really wasn’t very lovely for me. It’s the one shade of the bunch that I was let down by the pigmentation of the blush. I find that I have to really build it up to get it to show on my cheeks. But more than that, this blush just isn’t as refined as the other shades. There are noticeable chunks of silver glitter in Lovely Pink, unlike the other shades, which give just a hint of a glow. Also I am not impressed by this shade at all, it’s a very cool tones pink, with lilac undertones, no exactly everyday appropriate.
Have you been disappointed by any of these products? Or perhaps they are some of your makeup bag staples? Let me know in the comments below!
