Poundland hit the British highstreet a few years ago. First opposed by the masses, now their stores are in hundreds of shopping centres all across the country. Now it wouldn’t be the first place most people would think of for beauty bits, but there are actually quite a few hidden gems in those unorganized, difficult to navigate shelves!
The first thing; not the sexiest of purchases, but a necessity, are cotton buds. Whenever I pop into Poundland I pick up a pack of the Johnsons & Johnsons ones, then I’m always stocked up. Perfect for cleaning up eyeliner and mascara mistakes or neatening up the edges of nail varnish, these are a must in my beauty room. I keep mine in an IKEA jar on my dressing table so they can be reached for at any time. The next item I would say is definitely worth a visit to Poundland for are these acrylic nail varnish holders. If you are a regular reader of beauty blogs you’ll know acrylic storage is a community favourite. It keeps things in their place, displays things nicely and makes all those little beauty bits easy to find. The only problem with this is that acrylic storage can be pretty expensive. I personally have some Muji draws (you can see a snap here) which I love, but if hadn’t got them at a discount, I’m not sure they would be housing my makeup today. So when I went into Poundland – of all places – and saw these stands for, you guessed it – £1.00, I couldn’t believe my luck!
I’m a bit of a collector of Essie and Barry M polishes, and so to my delight, their square bottles sit perfectly in this organizer. Doesn’t it look cute?
Now onto a couple of less glamorous purchases, I picked up a Nivea Crème Coconut Shower Cream. I’m really into coconut scents again, probably because the weather is warming up, and so I thought I’d give this shower gel a whirl for £1.00. I’m happy to report it’s actually very nice, sweet smelling and moisturizing.
I also picked up some more Pearl Drops toothpaste. I like to use this once a week to keep my teeth pearly white – yes I really use two different toothpastes! Pearl Drops can actually be pretty expensive elsewhere on the highstreet, so it’s nice to know I can pick it up in Poundland.
I also picked up a short handled, flat foundation brush. Now I’m not actually suggesting you put your makeup on with this (I’ve tried, didn’t end well). The reason I picked it up is for facemasks. I like to apply mine with a brush, it saves on mess and product, as well as making things quicker to apply. Also, I can’t deny I feel a little fancy applying my Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask with a brush – that’s a little bit of fanciness that one can afford when it comes from Poundland!
And finally, do you spy something from a previous post? You’ve got it! On the end there is the Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm I featured in a recent post (you can check that one out here). I always like to check out what makeup and skincare items Poundland have on offer, you actually get quite an interesting mix in there! Stick to brands you recognize and you won’t have to compromise on quality.
There’s my round up of items I’ve picked up for Poundland recently. Would you consider picking up beauty items from there, or maybe you do already?
Sam

The cotton bud container is so cute and I love the stands for the nail polishes because they’re so practical. I found ones that can double as lipstick holders and there so cool. Great picks :)

The jar is only 80p at IKEA too, not bad! It’s really handy, your right! I don’t have any lipsticks wide enough to PPP them into this organizer, but I would imagine something like Nars Lipsticks would fit perfectly! Thank you for commenting! X
