Even with all the beauty products I have tried over the years, there are still a few cult products out there that I haven’t yet got my hands on. When I saw this adorable travel set from Laura Mercier, with three of the brands best-selling powders all in miniature, I took the chance to cross a couple more off my list.
During those late night Instagram scrolling sessions, I have seen (what seems like) hundreds of makeup mavens the world over, raving about the Laura Mercier loose powders. I had my heart set on picking up the powders individually, over time, as it all came to quite a lot to shell out for powders. So when I saw the Set & Glow Trio of powders, with minis of the Translucent Setting Powder, Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes and the Mineral Illuminating Powder in the shade Candlelight, I got this bundle in my basket straight away!
I love the Translucent Setting Powder just as must as I thought I would. It is such a beautifully smooth, finely milled powder. It is perfect for setting makeup without looking heavy or chalky. Personally, I love this powder for a light dusting through the centre of the face, to keep shine at bay and keep my makeup in place. I have used the Translucent Setting Powder for ‘baking’ (you can read how I do this HERE) but found that it didn’t do anything that my fav Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder can’t do, so I would rather use a more affordable product.
I have to sing the praises of the Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes! This powder has got to be one of the best under-eye setting powders I’ve ever tried. It natural brightens the sallow under-eye, making you instantly look more awake, smoothing any fine lines and setting concealer without looking too heavy. I have been reaching for the Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes almost everyday since I purchased the set, I’m addicted! But this has come with one major drawback; I’m almost out! I was a little disappointed to find that you only get 1g of the powder in this set! Yes, 1g! That teaches me to purchase without reading the back of the pack!
The Mineral Illuminating Powder in the set wasn’t really a product I was too worried about trying, but it’s actually one of my favourites! Candlelight, is a beautiful rose gold shade which is brilliant for brightening and adding glow to the face. I have been a fan of Laura Mercier’s Mineral Foundation for years, and so I wasn’t surprised that I loved the formula of this powder so much. The powder has a little coverage, so it is lovely around the parameters of the face to give a warm glow to the complexion.
Whilst the sizes of the powders in the Set & Glow Trio weren’t the biggest, it is a great way to try the different powder formulas. I can see myself purchasing the full size of the Secret Brightening Powder now and possibly another shade in the Mineral Illuminating Powder. The set also comes with a mini powder puff, which is a nice extra, especially if you were giving this set as a gift. I have loved trying out the powders and am so happy I picked the set up. Have you tried the Laura Mercier powders? If so, which ones are your favourites? I’d love to try more of the range, let me know in the comments below!
