As you’ll know, if you’re a regular reader, me and Josh are still trying to furnish our flat. So at the weekend my mum and I went to a couple of spots to see what we could find around at an affordable price.
I was delighted when we found this cute side table for £10! It has made the perfect addition to our bedroom as a bedside table.
So today I thought I might take you around this little table, all the beauty bits and nic-nacs I like to keep there.
The novelty of being able to keep beauty products at my bedside really hasn’t worn off yet. The first item I popped onto my bedside was my favorite lip balm, the NUXE Reve de Miel. I apply a generous amount of this product onto my lips every night and I wake up with the softest, most plump smooth lips! It is a real savior for dry lips in the winter, but it also keeps them smooth throughout the summer despite the matte, bold lipsticks I like to wear.
I also need to get into the habit of moisturising my hands each night. I’ve been struggling with dry cuticles and hands recently, so making sure I apply a little of the Soap and Glory Hand Food, is starting to help. I’m not really a fan of hand creams as they can often be greasy and make day to day things harder to do – I really haven’t got time for that! So making sure I slather a good amount on before bed has been keeping my dry skin at bay and meaning I wake up with softer hands.
Talking of dry skin, I’m also keeping this mini Body Shop Shea body butter by my bed to pop onto any extra dry areas throughout the night. Although I really like the Body Shop body butters I find this one to be a little on the waxy side, so I’m trying to use it up. It’s perfect for knees and elbows when I’m reading my book before lights out.
The book I’m currently reading is Merryn Somerset Webbs Love Is Not Enough: A Smart Woman’s Guide to Making (& Keeping) Money. I’m actually quite into it, although a little dated for today’s world, Merryn has some practical advice on dealing with personal finances to assure a better future for yourself.
So despite my slightly heavy reading material, I like to really unwind when sat in bed with a book, so I’ve also got a bottle of the AVON Planet Spa Sleep Serenity Pillow Mist. Think of this product as the poor mans This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, a Made From Beauty favorite product that’s had to be replaced whilst money is tight. The AVON Planet Spa Sleep Serenity Pillow Mist is packed full of heady, sweet Camomile and Lavender. You spray onto your bed sheets just before jumping into bed and it’s relaxing scent helps you doze off – just what I need!
Another spray I’ve been keeping close for relaxation purposes is a mini bottle of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I’ve been using this product for years in the morning, as its full of delicious grape and mint to refresh the skin. Since I’ve been having a little trouble sleeping, I’ve now swapped the spritz into my nighttime routine, as I find the scent really calming. Its probably due to the rosemary and rose in there, but it’s been helping me drift off. Plus there’s the extra benefit of knowing I’m amping up the moisture of my skincare and helping balance my skin.
Also on my bedside I keep these two little catch-alls from Zara Home to keep myself a little bit more organised. As you can see, they are currently housing my big hair clip, watch, some rings, and a necklace. I promise you, this is actually pretty organised for me! I love these little bowl/trays, one shaped like a shell and one like (the ever popular) pineapple.
In an effort to create a serene space, I’m aiming for a white, blue and pine coloured wood theme. But I’m on the look out for a bedside lamp now. Something affordable, in either white metal or glass I think, let me know if you have any ideas!
As the table is a one off, I’m unable to link it. But our bed is the Double Regan from Argos (you can check it out here) and our bedding is from IKEA which is unfortunately not available online anymore.

Hi! I’ve been considering buying one of those sleep sprays for my insomnia for a while now. Do they really work? xoxo
With insomnia, I’ve been a sufferer for many years, it’s all about establishing a routine that gets your mind and body ready for sleep. If you can begin to associate a smell, such as one of these sprays, with going to sleep then they definitely work! It’s just getting the brain the remember the smell, and associate it with sleeping, which it will after about a couple of weeks :) x
Ooh that book sounds super interesting! Love Caudalie Beauty Elixir, the scent is just so refreshing! I’d really recommend the Seascape Sleep Oil – it’s got lavender in it and is just the ultimate scent to help you drift off!
Sinéad xo ♥ fabuleuse, toujours ♥
It’s been pretty interesting as a graduate, got some good points about employment and salary! Thank you so much for the recommendation, it sounds right up my street! I’ll check it out. Thank you for commenting xx
