Made From Beauty Candle CoverSometimes you just gotta buy something that makes you smile. Just for smiling sake. I know that might come across as shallow, and I’m not saying money buys happiness, but sometimes we all deserve a little treat.

My treat this month has come in the form of a candle. Just an teeny, weeny, candle. If you read my recent Bedside Beauty post, you’ll know I have recently got a bedside table. With a bedside table has come bedside beauty bits, and now a bedside candle. Something I can light each night to read my book by.

There are quite a few candles on my wishlist (more on that later) but one I’ve been eyeing up for a long time is the Diptyque Figuier candle. A beauty and lifestyle blogger favourite, this little gem of the candle world pops up on blogs all over the place. And after smelling it back in March, when I took a trip to London, I can see (or smell) why!

Described as a ‘light, elusive and deliciously fresh fruity fragrance’ Figuier is the perfect summer candle in my book.

Despite how beautiful the fragrance is, this little 70g mini candle goes for a cool £20.00! I honestly couldn’t part with that sort of money for this, even as a treat. It was only when Liberty London scent me a £10 gift voucher as part of their loyalty card birthday month, that I was able to finally pick it up.

Now this little treasure is mine, I can’t wait to sit it on my bedside and light it for the first time.

I’m a complete sucker for candles. To me they are one of those luxuries that really make a house a home. So here are a few more on my wishlist:

1.) This Works Deep Sleep Heavenly Candle – the ultimate bedside candle. As I was also saying in my Bedside Beauty post, I’ve been having a little trouble sleeping, but I know that this scent helps me sleep. So a candle to fill the room with this calming smell and create a cosy atmosphere at the same time? That really does sound heavenly!

2.) Caudalie Divine Candle – as the weather warms up you would think I’d want to leave the candles behind, but not when it comes to this one. The Caudalie Divine Oil range smells like the very essence of summer! Warming notes of pink pepper, Bulgarian & Moroccan rose, cedar, vanilla and musks are just what I fancy at this time of year.

3.) Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Home Candle – I finally got to smell this scent a couple of weeks ago, and just like most of the beauty world, I can’t get it out of my head! A very unusual scent for Jo Malone to bring out, but the risk has well and truly paid off, this candle is truly gorgeous!

4.) Bella Freud Ginsberg Is God Candle – have I well and truly lost it? I’m lusting after a candle I’ve never smelt? Probably! The Ginsberg Is God candle by Bella Freud is hugely popular, and another slightly out there choice with notes of leafy tomatoes and fig leaf. Now I know I love the smell of tomatoes, their freshly grown reddy green flesh reminds me of long summer afternoons, cut with the freshness of fig? Honestly sounds great to me! Oh and did I mention the packaging?

5.) Byredo Parfums Bibliothèque Candle – maybe this isn’t the best choice for the summer, but its been on my wishlist for so long I thought it would be wrong not to include it. The notes in this candle really read just like a ‘What Sam Likes In A Candle’ list; peach, plum, violet, peony, patchouli, leather and vanilla. When I picked this up in London, it really was love at first whiff!
