My Top Winter Nail Varnishes Overview

We are still well and truly in the thick of winter here in the UK and so I’m still painting my nails on a weekly basis beautiful chilly shades. Today I thought I would share with you my most loved winter polishes, so here we go:

Coming in at number one is Essie’s Chinchilly. I think this has been my favourite polish of them all for almost a year now; a stunning grey shade with a lavender undertone. It doesn’t sound like it would be all that special, but it is, it really is. Being an Essie polish it, of course, applies like a dream in two coats thanks to the wide, perfectly shaped brush. The ultimate understated winter shade.

Essie Chinchilly At the second spot is Orly’s Vixen. A true deep berry shade that is eye catching yet still classic. I can’t currently get away with this one at work, but I’ve been slapping it on every other weekend almost the whole winter long. I was actually quite shocked by the Orly brushes, this being my first polish by them, as it is very long and thin. Orly have probably done this as their line is designed for professional nail artists, but for us mere mortals this varnish takes a little extra work, but boy is it worth it!

Orly Vixon At number three we are taking a little trip to the drugstore for Rimmel’s Salon Pro polish in Oh, Mr Darcy! Just like Essie’s Chinchilly, this one doesn’t look like much in the bottle but personally I am a massive fan of this nude shade. It gets that whole nude-nail-but-not-dead shade thing down perfectly.

Rimless Oh Mr Darcy In at number four is Nails Inc’s Tate polish. This was my all time favourite nail varnish for a very long time; years in fact. A true red that looks great at anytime of the year, but I normally crack this one out at party season for an easy-peasy evening nail.

And last, but by no means least, is Revlon’s Colorstay polish in Spanish Moss. A bit of a strange choice; a muted khaki green. I love this polish, it applies smoothly and evenly, the brush is much like the brushes on the Essie polishes and the colour is really unique. I am always guaranteed to get compliments when I wear this shade as it is so different and unexpected.Revlon Spanish Moss So there you have it, my top five winter polishes. What do you guys think, shall I do another post for Spring?
