Styling my New Hair Made From Beauty

Just in case you missed it: I cut all my hair off about a month ago. It was a huge change. I haven’t had hair this short since I was about 5 years old (in fact…I might not have. Fun fact about me; my hair just didn’t grow until I was about 5). Since going for the chop, I have never been happier with my hair! It is finally in good condition & actually has been really fun to style differently. With such a major hair change though of course comes a big change in the type of products I have been using.

For shampoo & conditioner, I have needed something to really smooth my hair. With the new shorter length, I have actually been trying to remove the natural volume my hair has – to avoid the ‘mushroom’ top look. The products I have found that seem to make a true difference are the Lee Stafford Poker Straight Shampoo & Conditioner. I find that the formula of these products really helps to flatten, condition & reduce the static in my hair. They are probably the only shampoo & conditioner duo I have tried that actually keep fluff & frizz at bay throughout the day.

Keeping on the Lee Stafford train, I have also been using the Cactus Crush Dazzle Drops to add shine & movement to my locks. Going for such a dramatic cut was fun, but it did mean I cut out all of my balayage colour; making my hair appear a little ‘blocky’. Having such a harsh cut, in such a dark colour, has meant that I have been trying to use products to amp up the shine like these Dazzle Drops to soften my look & add life back into my hair.

OUAI Matte Pomade Review

The other thing I have been adding since going for the chop is separation or piece-i-ness to my hair. For this I have been reaching for the OUAI Matte Pomade. I twist little bits of this product into the ends of my hair to really break up the shape of my bob & add a little bit of messy texture where it really matters. It’s this finally step in styling my hair that I think takes it from an outdated ‘lob’ style to a modern chop.

So go on then, totally honest thoughts…what do you think of my new hair? Would you have gone for a chop too? Let me know in the comments below.
