A lot of you might not know that I am a permanent glasses wearer. I need them to work, to drive, to watch telly; I’m pretty much dependant on them. I know glasses aren’t a problem for a lot of people, but for me I have always hated having to wear them. I grew up not needing glasses and then suddenly my eyesight started to deteriorate when I was 10. I think having spent my childhood without them, I just assumed that I would need my glasses for a while & then I could get rid of them later in life.
Well, here I am at the ripe old age of 25 & now I need my glasses more than ever. Because I hate my glasses, I have been dabbling in wearing contact lenses for the past few years. It hasn’t been until recently that I had made the switch on a daily basis, in the past only saving contact lenses for special occasions. Now, I would say I wear contact lenses around 80% of the time & I’m loving it!
Here are just a couple of reasons that I think wearing contacts is better than glasses:
Makeup
This might not be something most people think of, but I am a complete makeup addict & I can finally try out new looks. As I said in THIS post, I had been going through a period where I stopped wearing eyeshadow altogether, mainly because I didn’t think there was much point. In the past my glasses had covered my favourite liners & shadows. What is the point spending an hour creating the perfect smokey eye if no one can see it? Well, now I’ve switched to the Comfi Pure 1 Day Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses from Feel Good Contacts, I haven’t had this problem.
Time at the Beach
Something I just don’t do anymore is spending time at the beach because of my glasses. I find having to mess about taking glasses on & off to go into the water, to sunbathe, to just have fun on the beach is too much faff for me. Now with contacts I totally don’t have to worry about it.
Rain
People with 20/20 vision never have to worry about the rain impairing their vision. When I was in Devon last week it rained most days. On the days I didn’t wear my contacts I found myself faffing around with tissues to try & clear my lenses, I steamed up when I stepped inside…just not good. With contacts I didn’t have to worry about any of this & could just concentrate on taking in the beautiful views.
Loss or Damage
I can’t tell you the worry that comes with spending hundreds on the frames & lenses of glasses. What if I loose them? What if I drop them & break them? Since switching to contacts I simply carry an extra couple in my bag just incase one pops out (although this has never happened) & now don’t have to worry about what would happen if something happened to my glasses.
The type of contact lenses I have switched to is the Comfi Pure 1 Day Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses from Feel Good Contacts. For my eyes these have been brilliant; they are soft & breathable making them extra easy to wear. In the past I have tried other daily lenses but they were never as comfortable as these.
