My skin has been on a bit of a downward turn at the moment. It seems like the colder the weather gets the more moisture my skin needs, but with the oils and moisturisers I’m piling on it’s getting harder to control any blemishes that pop up. So I was on the hunt for a spot solution that would help get things under control.
I had heard good things a little while ago about the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Clinical Clearing Gel a while ago, but things in the beauty community has gone a little quiet about this little wonder product.
This gel uses a heavy dose of salicylic acid to clear blemishes. I’ve used salicylic acid based blemish fighting products before, and even gel bases ones (The Origins Super Spot Remover anyone?) and never found them very effective. So with this Clinique version, I was kind of taking a chance on it.
I’m delighted to report I find it works immediately, on any blemish, of whatever size, at whatever stage it’s at! My skin has seriously been loving this product, and I can’t sing its praises enough.
Clinique suggest that you apply a thin layer all over the face to prevent blemishes and help heal the ones you already have, day and night after cleansing. If you are struggling with acne this might be a good idea, but I’ve just been using it once a day as more of a spot treatment. I squeeze a small amount out onto my finger and dot it wherever I need to before heading to bed.
The thin gel sinks into the skin and dries very quickly, so there’s no horrible gloopy product left on the skin surface. Because of the salicylic acid content, if you have an open blemish then this product will sting a little, but if you have one of those horrible under-the-skin bumps, I’ve found this doesn’t sting, but it still gets to work fast!
Have you tried the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel? It’s now a staple in my skincare routine, but maybe you’ve tried a spot treatment I might prefer? Let me know in the comments below!

This sounds perfect for me at the moment! My skin is absolutely terrible! I think it’s a combination of stress and the cold weather. I’ve been trying out the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask and that has really helped hydrate my skin and has generally calmed things down. I highly recommend it!

Oh hey this sounds amazing! I’m tempted to get it for both my boyfriend and myself, he has acne-prone skin and super blocked pores whereas I just get the occasional blemish. Thanks for reviewing it or I’d never have known about it!
