When it comes to pretty palettes, the Marc Jacobs makeup line has to come pretty high on the list.
The fashion brands eye palettes have been the talk of beauty lovers the world over for a while now. After Sephora (currently the best place to find Marc Jacobs) started shipping to the UK last year I put my order in straight away to get this beautiful palette in Lolita.
If you’re a neutral lover like me, feast your eyes! Seven stunning shades; three mattes, three shimmers and one glitter. All in the most wearable, brown, bronze shades.
Starting on the left, with the mattes. There’s a bone colour, perfect for all over the lid or a brow bone highlight, a mid toned brown that allows you to warm up the crease of the eye slightly and blend out the shimmers, then a deep, dark cool brown/grey perfect for smoking the colours out and adding depth to any eye look.
The glitter in the centre of the palette is a real stunner! A champagne, with a hint of gold. I like to apply this to the centre of the lid for a highlight that stays all day and shimmers all night long.
The shimmers in the palette start with a duo-chrome shade with flashes of pink and pale gold. Then there’s cool toned champagne that’s great for everyday wear with a slick of mascara and finally a rich, coppery brown.
The formula of the shadows is outstanding, I really cannot fault any colour in the palette. They are all blendable, buttery and highly pigmented. The shadows last all day without the need for a primer – the list goes on, truly brilliant quality.
Then there’s the packaging! Absolutely stunning! If you’re a makeup lover and collector, you need this in your life! It comes in a cute little fabric pouch, to stop the beautiful, sleek outer plastic from scratching in your makeup bag. A slim palette, with rounded edges and light enough to hold up to use the full length mirror inside, but heavy enough to still feel luxurious. It even has that satisfying ‘click’ when you close it! I know packaging shouldn’t come into it when your purchasing a new product, but when it’s as beautiful as this, it’s hard not to mention!
The Lolita palette is perfect for the everyday or as your ultimate going-out palette. I know I’ve been saving mine for special occasions!
Next time I’m feeling a little flush I think I’ll be picking up another one of these stunning palettes. Marc Jacobs makes some gorgeous palettes that make to die for gifts, or something really special to treat yourself to.
