I don’t want to be a moaner, but there’s a few products I’ve tried recently that just didn’t cut the mustard. There are a bit of hype around most of these products, so hopefully it will help you if you’re thinking of picking them up.
The first item I am sorry to say is Zoella’s Soak Opera Bath Soak and Shower Cream. Lets focus on the positives for a second here: well done Zoe! What an achievement to have been able to release a line of body care!? Smashing! You go girl! Then there’s the packaging, how gorgeous is that? Coral and rose gold, Zoe knows us girls well. But the actual product inside was a bit of a let down. I wasn’t a huge fan of the scent, it reminded me of old school cheap shower gels, with a very powdery, chemical scent. Another thing I just couldn’t get about this product was the lack of bubbles. Yep, you heard me right, the lack of bubbles. I imagined that this product would foam up easily, making mound and mounds of bubbles. But after using it in the shower, I was disappointed to find only a few bubbles after having to really foam the product up in my hands. I think I would be pretty gutted if I put this into my bath. The other thing that was a massive let down for me was the fact that I dried out my skin. After using it reluctantly for a few days I found my legs were getting scaly, my arms were dry to the touch, not good. As you can see I haven’t used very much of this product, so unfortunately it has been sat unloved in my bathroom for months now.
The second product is one that I was excited about because of the hype surrounding it. The Dove Purely Pampering Pistachio and Magnolia Oil was described by many beauty bloggers as the budget version of the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil, a product I know and love. However I think this is completely wrong. Apart from their similarities in texture, that is it, that where thinks get very very different. Firstly the smell of this product was, disappointingly, overly strong on the magnolia and lacking in the Pistachio department. The scent is also very clearly fake, like amped up potpourri. But I could have got past the smell, that thankfully doesn’t linger for long, if it actually worked. But I’m sorry, this didn’t moisturise my skin very well at all. Sure it did if I loaded up on the stuff and keep piling it on, but I’m not sure that’s the point of this lightweight, easily absorbed formula.
The final product that was a real let down for me was the Vita Liberata Extra Rich Tinted Self Tan Lotion. I had heard some good things about Vita Liberata and this tan in particular. After a long love affair with the Xen Tan Absolute Luxe, I thought it was about time for a change. I should really learn from my mistakes, why switch a product when I am perfectly happy with the one I am already using? I should have thought of this before shelling out for this tan because it doesn’t show up on me. I brought the Dark shade, and slathered myself in it, only to be left with a slight tint. I found myself having to layer this up two of three times to get the colour I wanted, which really isn’t ideal.
Let me know in the comments if there have been any body care product you’ve tried that you weren’t all that impressed with, I’d love to hear about them!
