I have been really into my lip stains at the moment. In the colder weather I find that I need a little pick me up of colour, but during the working week I cant be bothered with touching up throughout the day. That’s where stains come in for me. No fuss, just swipe on, push into the lips and go!
Sometimes, however, stains can be a little drying. They also have a habit of settling into any fine lines and accentuating any rough patches. So I hadn’t really found a stain that was perfect for that easy, no fuss colour I was after.
But, whilst checking out the 3 for 2 offers in Boots a few days ago, I decided to finally give the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Lip Stains a go.
When swatching them in store, I was impressed by their texture, a sort of thick gel consistency. I couldn’t wait to get them home and try them out. They apply evenly and smoothly, like a gloss really. It you apply a thin layer and really press your lips together you’ll get a stain that looks stunning and lasts for hours on end.
And best of all? They don’t dry your lips out! I honestly thought it was all a big gimmick when the Colorstay Moisture Lip Stains were released, I thought they were another product promising things they couldn’t really deliver. But I have been proved wrong, this product really does deposit a nice amount of moisture whilst building up the colour.
I have been so impressed by these they have been all I’ve been wearing recently. There is something really nice about chucking these on the lips in the morning, topping up at lunchtime and not having to worry the rest of the day. I also like to pop the stain of these off with a little lip balm every now and then because I really can’t stand the feeling of dry lips when I’m trapped in an office.
Although I’ve been loving these lately, I do have one complaint, the shade selection. In my local Boots there really wasn’t that many colours, and looking online I don’t think there is many more out there. I think for the summer, shades like Miami Fever, will be perfect, but for the colder months I am stuck with a more limited selection. I have been using New York Scene the most, but sometimes it is a little dark for everyday wear. The other colour I have is Barcelona Nights, a very popular shade from the collection, which despite its stark appearance, actually comes off a soft coral pink on the lips.
Have you tried the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Lip Stains? If you have let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
