So it’s about time to round up the February empties. Despite trying out lots of different products over the past month, especially for this blog, there are some repeat offenders here – like bottles and bottles of dry shampoo and body butters. So if you fancy hanging around to dig through my rubbish with me…lets jump in!
First stop, the shower. Despite the many bottles of dry shampoo that will feature in this post, I want to start out here so that you are sure I am clean. I have used up a bottle of the Soap and Glory Orangeasm Body Wash; one of my favorite scents for waking me up housed in a creamy, foamy wash. Then I have extra proof of my cleanliness, or more importantly my hair’s cleanliness, I have finished the Dove Hair Therapy Pro-Age shampoo and conditioner. I actually really like this range for giving my hair a temporary boost, some thickness and lots of moisture. February was a very cold, dry month in the UK so I used a whole tub of my Body Shop Honey Scrub to get rid of those dry patches, it’s gentle and gives your skin some serious softness when doubled up with the Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser afterwards. I would recommend this pairing to anyone suffering with that tight, flaking skin feeling on their legs and arms.
When I’m out of the shower I’ve been slathering on the body butters, which probably explains why I’ve gone through two of The Body Shop’s Peach and Pink Grapefruit ones. These are an all time classic, relieving dry skin with hours of moisture, great as a gift for anyone from your Nan to your best friend. I have even been finding the time to use these on my arms and legs before work in the mornings because I love them that much. Something I have been using occasionally throughout the month is the He-Shi Day to Day Gradual Tan. I can’t be bothering with all the hassle of a proper tan at this time of year, but a few coats of this during the week stops skin coming off that horrible grey, green colour it sometimes can in the winter.
And now we move onto the most unglamorous of sections, the bits and bobs. I have used up a Sensodyne Repair and Protect Whitening Toothpaste, it is my favorite, gets the job done, fends off sensitivity and keeps teeth white. My deodorant is the Sanex Dermo Sensitive, another product I have been faithful to for years because it just works. Next are my two beauty naughties; Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Wipes, I promise I don’t use these everyday, but I like to keep some on hand to take off heavy eye makeup occasionally or clean up lip stick mistakes. Then probably my worst beauty product of all; the Tesco Nail Varnish Remover, now before you say it, I know this is bad for my nails, I know this will make them dry and brittle, but when you’re on a budget, something’s gotta give. To take my makeup off this month I have really been enjoying the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, it really breaks up makeup whilst also giving winter skin a little extra oomph and glow.
On to the makeup empties, I have finished a Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Filling Pencil & Brush, if you read this post you’ll know all about my love for this product. I also used a L’Oreal Superliner, right up until it was completely dried out, I am hooked on this liner, which you would have seen in my recent liner post. This month also marked the end of not one, but TWO of my beloved Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder. I have only photographed one, as I threw the other in the bin in a strop. I have had two of these powders fall out of their packaging and smash on the floor in the past month, once on the bus, which was highly embarrassing and awkward. Now you might say “Sam, stop being so rough with your makeup!” but actually they just haven’t been glued into the packaging, causing the pan to make a run for it every time I used it. Lastly on the makeup front is the Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara, after having this mascara knocking about for just over two months I’ve decided to wave it goodbye. I loved the brush, cone shaped fiber bristles to really get to the root of the lashes and corners of the eyes. The formula is good, holding a curl pretty well and building up nicely, but to be honest I’m just a bit bored of it, especially considering I have a new love: the Benefit Roller Lash.
Here comes the dry shampoo… I have used two cans of the COLAB London Dry shampoo, as it’s my favourite by far. If your read my recent post, then you’ll know I have already purchased another can of the stuff and I’m over the moon with how it soaks up oil without leaving a white cast in sight.
Which is more than can be said for this giant can of Batiste. I picked this up when on offer for £2.00 in Boots and thought, as I hadn’t given it a go in a while, I’d give the mega popular formula another pop. No go. On my dark brown hair this leaves stubborn grey, white patches throughout my hair that just make me want to wash my hair there and then, not really the object of the whole exercise. One hair product that is a constant in my collection though has to be the Charles Worthington Style and Bounce Texturising Spray. If you read my Three Easy Work Hairstyles post, you’ll know I can be a little heavy handed with this one, but I love the gritty, lived in vibe it gives to so many styles, I just can’t part with it.
What have you used up in the month of February? I’d love to know, let me know in the comments below.
