Probably one of the biggest beauty chores out there, filling them in, threading them, setting them, tinting them, waxing them, tweezing…there’s an awful lot you can do to your brows.
When I was around fourteen, I started to have my eyebrows waxed. I know that sounds like an early age, and looking back on it, maybe it was. Luckily my waxing years ran pretty smoothly and at the age of twenty-one I still, thankfully, have a full brow.
They are a little on the thin side though and so I generally fill them in everyday with either some sort of pen, crayon, powder, gel…whatever takes my fancy.
I feel at this point that I should actually address the fact that they are not too thin due to over-waxing; but because of a threading incident last year. The lady threading my brows didn’t consult me on the shape I wanted, how thick or thin I wanted to go and just let her imagination run wild. It was my first, and last, time having my brows threaded and so I guess I didn’t really know what was supposed to happen. It turned into one of my biggest beauty regrets. Anyway I digress…
My main product of choice, and the one I reach for most, for a quick natural brow, is the Soap and Glory Archery pencil in Blondeshell. Supposedly a dupe for the ever popular Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wizz, this pencil is thin, waxy and cool toned allowing you to quickly achieve hair like strokes to fill in the brow. I use this throughout my whole brow as Blondeshell hasn’t got a biggest colour pay off but I find the shade dark enough to use on my near black hairs. The spoolie on the end of the pencil really is great too.
When I really want my brows to look their best I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Medium Brown. The pomade took a little getting used to, but now I love it, I have to stop myself from using it on a daily basis, its far too time consuming for that. This shade matches my natural hair colour perfectly, so I have to use a light hand with this as it can get a little too dark. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Brow Brush (#12) to flick on tiny individual brow hairs where I need it.
Sometimes, if I am being particularly lazy, I like to just use a brow gel to comb through my brows to give me some colour and hold. After trying the Benefit’s Gimme Brow and finding it a little too thick for my liking, I now use L’Oreal’s Paris Perfection Brow Artist Plumper. I find this gel a little lighter in texture, whilst actually giving me more hold for a fraction of the price.
I am thinking of investing in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wizz when my Soap and Glory pencil runs out, what do you guys think? What other products have you tried on your brows that you think I should pick up? Let me know in the comments below.
