Throughout the week I need my makeup to stay in place all day, sometimes I wear my makeup for ten hours with barely any touch ups. The one thing I really don’t want to be worrying about is my eye shadow. I haven’t got a problem reapplying my concealer quickly, dusting a bit of powder here and there but who really wants to mess about with eye shadow at work?
Because I need such a long wearing sweep of colour I can quickly blend onto my lids easily at six in the morning I opt for cream shadow sticks. Quick and easy to use with your fingers, simple and fuss free, here are some of my favourite formulas:
I think the No7 Stay Perfect Shade and Define shadow sticks are the best on the market for an affordable price. My two top picks from the range are the shades pictured, Cool Mink and Coffee Bean, although, that said, the whole shade range is brilliant. These really will not budge once they have set on the lid, so you have to work quickly with them to get a diffused colour. I wear either of these shades individually, or mixed together to create an easy smokey eye.
My next suggestion isn’t actually a cream eye shadow, but an eyeliner. However these Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liner’s start out creamy enough to be scribbed all over the lid and blended before they dry to a budgeproof finish with a hint of glitter. The one pictured above is the shade I find myself reaching for the most; Bronze.
Another offering from the Rimmel Scandaleyes range are the Scandaleyes Shadow Stick’s. I brought the shade Bad Bronze a little while ago, which comes up a little darker than the Bronze Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liner and is great as a base for a smokey eye in the evening, as well as a wash of colour for everyday. But it is the shade Bluffing that has really blown me away, a stunning silver, pink toned taupey shade. Whilst brought on impulse, I have got a lot of use out of Bluffing so far. I love to wear this shade all over the lid with Bad Bronze in the outer V of the eye for a subtle touch of colour day to day. I am wearing this combination here:
I have also added a little of Urban Decays 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil in Zero at the lashline, but any long lasting black kohl liner would do. I blended Bluffing all over the eye with my finger before roughly drawing over the outer V with Bad Bronze and quickly smoothing the two together and burring the edges with my fingers.
My final pick of cream eye shadow sticks has to be Rimmels Scandaleyes Shadow Stick by Kate in Rose Gold. This shade can be used to create a much more dramatic look (more on that another day) but I often use it lightly blended onto my lids with lashings of black mascara and black kohl in the waterline for daytime wear.
