2014 was the year of complexion for me, foundations, concealers, setting powders, blushers, you name it, if it went on the skin, I wanted to know about it.
One product that really changed the complexion game for me was the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles concealer. Before I found this I was busy trying to make the collection lasting perfection concealer work under my eyes, it wasn’t pretty. In fact, up until trying the Maybelline offering I had struggled for a long time with under eye concealers.
Now I may just be being picky but I had been looking for a concealer that could be worn under the eye and on blemishes. In the UK a majority of concealers available on the high-street are either high coverage, cakey formals or highlighter pens. This is where it can get a little confusing. Products housed in the clickable/twist up pens such as the Barry M Imperfection Correction Pen and the L‘Oréal Paris True Match Touche Magique Concealer are actually designed to be worn as highlighters for the face, not camouflage products. Which was all news to me! Just look at the Barry M name, ‘correction’. I assumed they would correct and conceal…wrong.
The other thing that makes me a little picky is that I don’t have particularly bad under eye circles. Often I don’t need a high coverage product, but the highlighter/correction pens just weren’t quite doing the job.
In steps the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles concealer. Beautiful, long lasting, light to medium coverage; great for both the under eye and blemishes in one. The product is creamy, glowing without being glittery or shiny and blendable. After reading a lot of hype around this product, I still wasn’t convinced by the strange applicator. The foam top does take a little bit of getting used to, but it cradles the eye socket easily, depositing the right amount of product just where you need it. For blemish cover I dab a little onto my finger and gently tap it onto the areas where I need it. You can reapply again and again to get the coverage you need without any cakey build up.
Definitely one of my favourite finds of 2014, as you can tell by the well-loved packaging! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles concealer and if you liked it as much as I do.
