DSC_0049Four calling birds, three French hens…sorry, back to the makeup! It’s fast approaching the big day (Christmas, there’s no wedding on the cards) and so it’s the time of year to roll out the festive red lips. I’ve got five beautiful red lipsticks to share with you that will all make the perfect statement touch to your makeup.

The first lipstick is one of the most classic reds in my collection. The L’Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in 461 Scarlett Creme. The classic lipstick is moisturising and comfortable to wear, so prefect pressed into the lips for a long lasting stain, or slicked on heavily for a glossy finish. I love cool toned reds on myself, they brighten my complexion and teeth, whilst always being a classic look. So I think this shade, with its cool toned cherry brightness is a perfect edition to any Christmas makeup bag.

Very similar in shade, is the L’Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Blake’s Pure Red. This modern red comes with an updated formula that is matte yet comfortable to wear. This is very high up on my All Time Top Lipsticks (oh maybe I should do a post) as I’m crazy about the shade and find the longevity outstanding.

If it’s a matte red you’re looking for, who could forget the recently released Maybelline ColorSensational Matte 955 in Craving Coral. This shade might not be everyone’s first choice for a Christmas red, this shades loaded with coral orange, but it’s a modern take that would look beautiful with any party dress. If you’d like to read my full review of the Maybelline ColorSensational Matte range, then it’s linked here.

Another matte shade I’ll be reaching for this holiday is MACs Retro Matte Lipstick in Relentlessly Red. I’ve loved this lipstick for years because of it’s hard to budge formula and unusual shade. The Retro Matte formulation from MAC is one of the best on the market for longevity and although can be a little drying (nothing a little lip balm underneath can’t sort out) will really turn heads this Christmas. The bright red with coral pink undertones seriously flatters bronzed skin, so I like to load up on The Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel when I wear it – because it wouldn’t be Christmas without Chanel!

My fifth and final shade in this post is a bit of a wild card, as it’s not technically a red, it’s more of a berry, but I love it so much I couldn’t leave this little bargain out! If you’ve looking for an affordable Christmas lipstick, look no further than the Rimmel by Kate Lipstick on 107. There’s a reason why this has been a favourite in the beauty community for years. A red berry, with a touch of blackberry about it, comfortable to wear, easy to apply and long lasting – what’s there not to love?
