UnknownEveryone, no matter your age, interests or style can appreciate a good book for Christmas. I live with a complete book worm, so my home is pretty much over run with books (we are going to need another bookcase soon) so that got me thinking about how much joy a simple book can give. It can also be tough to get a last minute gift that you know someone will actually enjoy – books to the rescue!

I’ve gone down the route of book that I’d like to unwrap this Christmas, so I guess you could say that these would be perfect for any woman over the age of about…18 or so. Some of these I’ve already read, some are new releases this year. There’s a wide variety of topics here, makeup, food, humour, memoir and even a book for those of us who like a tipple or two, so lets get stuck in!

For The Serious Beauty Lover:

Pretty Honest: The Straight-Talking Beauty Companion by Sali Hughes

If you have a serious beauty buff to buy for this Christmas this beautiful book by Sali Hughes covers a huge range of topics from industry secrets to what you should be looking out for on ingredients lists. 336 pages of Hughes brain picking? I’m in!

For The Budding Fashion Blogger:

How To Be Parisian: Wherever You Are by Anne Berest

This book is an oldie but a goodie. If you have a stylish friend or younger sister, this book covers the effortless style of Parisian women in an equally stylish book. Maybe not a page turner, but for timeless fashion inspiration, look no further!

For The Entrepreneur:

#Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

I read this book within one week of its UK release and boy is it a goodie! #Girlboss is inspiring, strong and hooking. Sophia Amoruso shares how she started the fashion giant Nasty Gal from her bedroom. For eBay to multimillion dollar stocks, if you know someone trying to get their business off the ground buy them this – you’ll be listening to their business plan by morning!

A Couple For The Healthy Foodies:
Deliciously Ella: Awesome ingredients, incredible food that you and your body will love by Ella Woodward Get The Glow: Delicious and Easy Recipes That Will Nourish You from the Inside Out by Madeleine Shaw

These two books were on my Christmas wishlist this year. If you know someone who’s into their food, health and nourishing their body then either of these would be a real winner! Both Deliciously Ella and Get The Glow are both books born from real eating habits from real women that aren’t focusing on extreme changes or ridiculous goals, but just looking after ourselves; something we could all do with doing sometimes.

For Everyone:

How To Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran

Now I know a lot of you will be thinking that Caitlin Moran’s How To Be a Woman is a big old book of feminist views written by a woman for women – let me tell you – that’s not the case. I think this is the only book in history I have reread (and I’m a Creative Writing graduate). Moran manages to say ‘don’t be a dick’ and ‘just be polite’ in the most creative, beautiful way with a feminist spin. This book made me belly laugh, cry, wet my pants a little and wake up a completely different woman – just by telling me about the things I already kinda knew.

For The Funny Girl:
Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned by Lena Dunham

I must admit, living in the UK and not having easy access to the show Girls has meant that I didn’t really get the hype about Lena Dunham for a while. But after I subscribed to her newsletter Lenny a little while back, I can honestly say I’m an advocate for her writing. I haven’t read Not That Kind of Girl, but I have a feeling I will be soon!

For The Makeup Lover:
Face Paint: The Story of Makeup by Lisa Eldridge

One of the most hotly anticipated beauty books of the year, Lisa Eldridge’s Face Paint is just a drop in the ocean of this wonderful woman’s makeup knowledge. With years of professional experience as a fashion and celebrity makeup artist all over the world, Eldridge is surely the ideal person to help you brush up on your skills?

For The One Who’s Had A Few Too Many:

The Ladybird Book of the Hangover (Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups)

I saw this advertised the other day and I couldn’t help but include it in this post. Some genius somewhere has taken old Ladybird Books and made them for grown ups! This delightful little book for be hilarious at the bottom of any stocking!

For The One Who Likes To Snuggle Up:

Chernobyl Strawberries by Vasna Goldsworthy

If you know someone who likes to snuggle up with a good memoir then I’d highly recommend this one by Vesna Goldsworthy. It’s been a while since I’ve read it, but there’s heartbreak, joy, suspense and history all rolling around on these pages.

So will you be giving a book gift this christmas? If so, will it be any of my picks? Let me know in the comments below!
