It’s been a while since I’ve shared a good old foundation love on Made From Beauty. If, like me, you love a good drugstore base, then today my friend, you’re in for a treat!
I’ve been using the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation for a few weeks now and I have to say I’m in love! First can we just appreciate the packing? Bourjois seem to kinda nail it with their foundation packaging and this product is no exception. The sleek, plastic bottle is light and small enough to fit comfortably into a makeup bag – something I find a lot of foundations don’t do!
There are a lot of shades on offer with this range too, as the brand have expanded the colours on offer especially for this range.
But it’s with the formula that Bourjois have really got me with! I must admit, I’m not normally a fan of matte foundations (I’m all about that glowy finish normally) but with my slightly dewier bases not lasting a full working day, I was willing to give something a little matter a go. I was looking for that perfect base which was slightly matte, without me having to sacrifice the glow. So sure, I had a challenging criteria for my next foundation love – who knew such an affordable brand would step up to the mark?
Despite being a matte foundation, the Air Mat manages to give skin a lit from within appearance. There’s no shimmer or glitter in slight, just a hint of illumination that brightens the face and keeps the matte finish looking like actual skin.
I’d say the coverage is a light to medium wear, which personally is perfect for everyday. I’m also really happy with the staying power of the Air Mat. Perhaps it’s the matte formulation, or the light layers I apply (yep, you can even do that without it appearing cakey) but I’ve found this foundation to last very well on the skin for up to six hours. After the working day, there’s a little bit of visible wear around my chin where the foundation has started to disappear; but honestly for the price, I really don’t mind it.
There’s also good news here for lots of different skin types. If you saw my post yesterday, you’ll know my skins been a bit temperamental recently. So I’ve had some dry patches, some excessive oil and even some tough to budge blemishes – but the Air Mat has managed to cover and last through it all.
The natural finish you get from this foundation isn’t one that’s readily available on the highstreet, nor is the comfort of wear, so I’ll be giving the Air Mat a ten out of ten for performance! Have you tried this foundation? Or maybe you have another matte drugstore base favourite? Let me know in the comments below!

I’m usually more of a medium/ full coverage kinda girl but I’m really liking the sound of this – maybe for Spring :)
And you’re right – packaging is spot on.
