DSC_0100I’ve always loved matte nails. They weren’t really something you could dabble in easily at home for many years, but recently more and more brands have been launching matte polish ranges and matte top coats. So when I saw the new Essie Cashmere Matte Limited Edition polishes, I couldn’t resist picking up one from the range.

I was immediately drawn to the shade Cozy in Cashmere. A beautiful lilac grey polish with a duo chrome pink iridescence running through it.

Being a matte polish, there are some downsides; firstly the colour can be a little tough to apply evenly, especially when applying a second coat to the nail. Although this may be a bit of an issue, it doesn’t really bother me.

The other issue, which is a little harder to ignore, is that Cosy in Cashmere simply doesn’t wear very well. After having three coats of the polish on my nails I had serious chipping after only two days. So although Cosy in Cashmere is possibly one of my favourite shades of all time, I’m not able to wear it for more than a couple of days without it peeling off!

The problem probably has a large amount to do with the fact that it’s difficult to use a top coat with this polish. A normal glossy top coat will, of course, take away from the matte finish; so I thought I’d try a matte top coat. I have the OPI matte top coat in my collection, but after using it on top of Cosy in Cashmere it took away some of the polishes iridescence.

Even with all it’s faults, I am still in love with the finish and colour of Cosy in Cashmere. Would you try out this polish? Let me know in the comments below!
