DSC_0025After the amazing response to my ‘Top 5 Glossy Nudes‘, earlier in the week; today at the other end of the spectrum, I thought I’d share my favourite drugstore lip pick for long lasting lip colour.

If you’ve been a long time reader of Made From Beauty, then you might remember me mentioning this product before, in my ‘Valentines Day Pamper‘ post. As I said in that post, if you’re after intense lip colour that won’t budge look no further than the Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colours.

Since February I have expanded my collection to now include three shades; Make Your Move, Kiss Fatal and Kiss Me You Fool.DSC_0026

Here are some swatches for you, on the top left there’s Make Your Move, in the centre Kiss Fatal and lastly Kiss Me You Fool.

Make Your Move is the nudest shade I own, a brown, cool toned nude that dropped just as the whole Kylie Jenner lip trend hit the beauty world. Makeup lovers everywhere were going crazy for that matte, 90s lip that Jenner wore with such finesse.

Kiss Fatal I picked up when the weather was a lot colder, and I was thinking it would be the perfect shade for a winter lip, with its rich berry tone. Unfortunately this shade just doesn’t work with my skin tone. It has a tendency to wash me out and make my teeth appear yellow – not the ideal lip! There’s some purple, brown and even a hint of grey in there – so if you can make this work for you all power to ya! (Also, if you fancy a throwback post check out my ‘Winter Berries‘ post!)

And my favourite of all the shades I have, Kiss Me You Fool. A bright, warm toned red that will really turn heads. This has become my go-to-red if I want a pop of colour on the lips. Brown smudged liner, a little bronzer and red lips? Count me in!

At one end of the product there’s the colour, this is liquid and dries to a matte finish, then on the other end you have a clear, glossy top coat to seal the colour in.

The idea of sealing a lip colour in isn’t anything new, Lipcote has been helping us do that for years. But Rimmel have injected this sealer with a huge shot of moisture – something you’ll be thankful for with the matte colour underneath. Be careful to use only a light layer of colour though, otherwise you’ll end up mixing the two sides after a couple of uses like I have.

So on to the formula: Now this is really what’s going to separate people!

I have noticed some other beauty bloggers say they couldn’t get on with this product because it was actually too long lasting. And I must admit, I often have to take olive or almond oil onto a cotton bud to remove these at the end of the day.

And if you’re looking for a weightless lip product, keep looking. When wearing these you can definitely tell you have something on your lips. I personally like to wear these for around five hours maximum, otherwise I find that the product can ball up a little on the lips and almost peel away.

I know those might seem like massive downsides, but that is the price you pay for such long wearing lip colour. I have actually worn Make Your Move for ten hours before!

My favourite way to apply them is but outlining my lips with the colour, then filling it in with a light layer and allow to dry. I slap on a thick layer of the glossy top coat, let that sit for a minute or two before blotting the excess off with a tissue.

So have you tried the Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colours? If so what was your take and what is your favourite shade? I think they’ve become a bit of a love it or hate it in the beauty world, so I’d love to know your thoughts, let me know in the comments below!
