There’s something amazing when you find a makeup product that makes your skin look great, whilst still letting it breathe. Now bareMinerals is famous for their mineral makeup, finely milled powders that can be buffed into the skin for buildable coverage. But I’ve never loved mineral makeup, I find it messy, awkward to use – just not really my thing.
So when bareMinerals released their Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, they kind of got my attention. Promising hydrating, antioxidant packed light coverage, it sounded right up my street. When the brand were running their launch campaign, I thought I’d pick up a sample to give it a go. Well, actually, I’ll be honest, I went and picked up two samples. No no, it’s not what you think! I went out with no makeup on, and at the first counter I went to I was matched to 04 Natural. When I left the counter I thought it was a bit dark, so removed it and headed to a different counter, this time I was matched to 02 Vanilla.
So bareMinerals win 0 brownie points for shade matching. I was really surprised that the two counters were so far out with their matches.
Anyway, after taking my two samples home, I was very happy with the shade 02 Vanilla, so decided to buy the full sized product. In the warmer weather I’ve been loving this base. The texture isn’t a cream, but really is like a gel, as bareMinerals describes it. It’s cooling to apply, easy to blend and seamlessly blends with the skin.
The finish is dewy, with a slight sheen, making it perfect for summer skin. I found that I had to powder the t-zone of the face for the base to stay. I must say, staying power isn’t exactly this product’s strong point.
The Complexion Rescue is, however, formulated without silicones, oil, parabens or fragrance. Now I have pretty normal skin, so these things don’t particularly bother me, but if you suffer with acne, dry skin or even oily skin this product would probably be a great option for you.
Let’s also not forget that this product comes packed with SPF 30, perfect for everyday wear, the beach or this wonderful weather we’ve been having in the UK recently!
Because I have been so impressed with my first taste of bareMinerals’ liquid formula, I am thinking I would like to try their bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation next – please let me know if you have tried it, I would love to know your thoughts!
So what do you think? Have you tried the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue? Or maybe you could have better chance with samples than I did? Let me know in the comments below!

I went to get a sample and I was also matched badly which kind of put me off the product. I must go back and get a right shade to see if my opinions change on the actual product, but as nice as it was I just didn’t see the hype x
Beauty with charm
I think the gel texture is one the thing that makes this product stand out, otherwise I guess not really groundbreaking!
I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one who struggled to get matched, it’s strange how much it varied from counter to counter, but just goes to show, if you’re not happy, go back and get matched again!
Thank you for your comment :) x
Reblogged this on Sharon's Blog.
This sounds like a really interesting product! I’ve got pretty ‘normal’ skin as well, so it just might work for me. I’ve never actually tried any bareMinerals products, but I’ve heard some good things! x
Peppermint and Panda Eyes
I think for our skin type its a great product! Try and pick up a sample to give it a go! Thank you for commenting! x
[…] But if you are in the market for a lighter base, I’ve still been loving the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue I reviewed earlier this week (you can check that post out here). […]
