L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation

It has been years since a matte foundation has touched my skin. Back in my college days the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation ruled the roost and we were all wearing it. That thick, high coverage, cakey foundation looked just like skin coloured chalk, but back in 2009 that’s what was popular. In the pursuit of flawless skin, me and my friends continually applied a mask of foundation day after day.As I got a little older, and more into makeup, suddenly dewy skin became the base to have. Bring on the luminous primers, the brightening concealers, the wet, smooth tinted moisturisers. Sometimes all those dewy products get a little slippy, they can start to move around the face or separate when your natural oils start to come out.

So when I saw the reviews of this new release from L’Oreal, I thought I’d give matte foundation a go again.

Now, don’t worry I’m not turning my back on dewy, luminous bases, I still love that look, but as the weather is warming up in the UK sometimes it’s nice to pop on a base that you know won’t move.

And that’s exactly what this L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte foundation gives you.

I really wasn’t sure at first, the texture seemed a little too thick and because of all that staying power, I was worried I would never get it to buff into the skin. I couldn’t believe how much I loved the finish of the foundation on first application! Sure things took just a touch more elbow grease than usual to get everything seamless with my skin, but the end result was amazing.

I’m wearing it here:Me wearing L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte FoundationThe foundation feels secure, you definitely know you have something on your skin, but as I said, there’s something comforting about that in the warmer months. The finish really wasn’t what I was expecting, sure there wasn’t any dewiness (it’s a matte foundation people!) but there was plenty of glow. A subtle, healthy, radiant glow that could fool anyone into thinking you have flawless skin due to your perfect lifestyle.

The wear time on this base is great. I wouldn’t be stupid enough to try it out for the full 24hours like L’Oreal claim it can be worn for, but getting an eight hour stretch out of it is more than enough for me.

Have you tried out the new L’Oreal Infallible 24H matte foundation? If so I’d love to hear what you think!
