Real Techniques BrushesDoes anyone even remember what we done before Real Techniques? Before this amazing drugstore brand it was really hard to find a decent makeup brush at an affordable price. Your best bet would be the Boots No7 line, but I wouldn’t really call those brushes affordable, at around £10 for an eye brush. Then the dynamic duo call Pixiwoo swooped in and stole the highstreet brush game. Their brushes are great quality, easy to use and always on point.

Today I thought I’d share with you my top three Real Techniques brushes just incase you needed anymore convincing to pick up one.

The Buffing BrushThe first one is the brands cult brush, the Buffing Brush. I honestly think before this brush we were all using flat foundation brushes to smooth on a streaky mask of product that sat on top of the skin. Then Sam and Nic from Pixiwoo showed us how to buff creams into the skin for a flawless base. This brush comes in their Core Collection, the same as the second brush I’m going to talk about. If you wear base makeup, like foundation or bronzer, even occasionally, I would highly recommend picking up the Core Collection to get your hands on the Buffing brush and…

The Contour BrushThe Contour brush! Before I brought this I honestly had no brush for placing bronzer under the cheekbones, and at the time I had no idea about actual contour powders. My makeup skills might have come a long way, but this brush remains one of my favourites. It’s the prefect size for placing product under the cheekbones, around the hair line and even works as a great highlighting brush. The domed cut applies product precisely, but the density of the brush allows you buff out creams or powders beautifully.

The Duo Fiber Contour BrushMy last brush has to be the Duo Fiber Contour brush. Unfortunately you can’t buy this brush separately, but it’s part of the Duo Fiber Collection, a great collection as well. I am totally and utterly head over heels with this brush! I like smaller brushes for setting powders so I can be really precise with their application, so this brush works brilliantly for that. But the main thing I love this brush for is applying highlighter. One of the main plus sides of duo fiber brushes is that they pick up and apply less product, perfect for something a little full on like shimmery highlight.

Honorable mentions go to 200 Oval Shadow brush from the new Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, the Blush Brush, the Miracle Complexion Sponge…the list goes on!

All I would say is next time you feel like splashing the cash in the makeup brush department, don’t over look Real Techniques – they may be the exception to the rule ‘you get what you pay for’!
