Waitrose Pure RangeRecently, whilst feeling pretty flush, I decided to just chuck some random skincare in my basket at Waitrose. It seems to be a problem, I can’t stop picking up skincare! Thankfully, the items that took my fancy this time were cheap as chips!

I wanted to give the Waitrose Pure range a go, as I haven’t tried anything from the range before. Most supermarkets have their own select skincare range here in the UK, most are affordable and unglamorous, but this was Waitrose skincare… surely it would be different?

First up, I’m pretty impressed with the packaging, although simple and not exactly luxury, it is pretty. The blue and white girly design makes it a little more bearable to place on your dressing table-right?

The products I picked up were the Eye Makeup Remover, the Facial Oil and the Eye Gel, all were under a fiver each and seemed a little different for this sort of range.

The first product I tried was the Eye Makeup Remover, and I am happy to report that I actually really like this product. I must admit, I wasn’t expecting masses from such an affordable eye makeup remover, however this one gets the job done. I recently wrote a more in depth (rather damning) review of this product here, and I must admit I was wrong. Once a product I had reserved for cleaning up eyeliner mistakes, now after a bit more use, I’m come to enjoy the no-fuss nature of this simple but effective remover.

Next up is the Eye Gel and I have to say this is the most disappointing product of them all. I am still not sure what this product is supposed to do. It didn’t give my under eyes any moisture, if anything it actually dried the area out. Because it was so drying, it didn’t apply well under makeup, making my concealer look heavy and cakey. The gel is  thin and clear, almost watery so it was a bit of a battle just to get the stuff on my skin. There’s also a  strong alcohol smell, which put me right off using it on a delicate area like my under eye! I am sorry, I don’t care how cheap this one is, I really wouldn’t recommend it!

And the final product I tried from the Waitrose Pure range was their Facial Oil. Honestly? I am a little undecided about it. I must admit, it’s not good used all over the face (like I would some of my other oils) but I do like it mixed into my moisturiser to give me a little extra glow during the day time.  I find the texture of this oil to be a little off; it is incredibly watery, not thick like you’d expect from an oil. Am I sure it actually offers skin benefits? Maybe not, but it is something I will use, and something I would actually recommend to those with dry skin and looking to tighten their belts.

The Waitrose Pure range might not be the best quality skincare out there, but I like picking things up at such a low price point to see how they match up to my more expensive skincare. I have found one item that I would repurchase, the Eye Makeup Remover, and one that I will use for now, the Facial Oil. All the products within the range are described as ‘Natural Care for Sensitive Skin’…reading the ingredients, I wouldn’t wholly back that. There’s definitely some nasties in there, but again, at such a low price, its hard to pack in the good stuff. Mind you, most of the ingredients are readable! Always a plus! They are also fragrance free, so if that’s something you are mindful of, this might be a range to try out next time you’re doing your weekly shop.

Let me know if you’ve tried this range and what your thoughts are! I’d love to know, leave me a comment below.
