I would like to shake the hand of Benefit’s marketing person. If there is one thing that brand knows how to do, it’s marketing a new product. One marketing tool Benefit often uses it’s giving away deluxe samples with women’s magazines, hooray for us! To really get the hype going about their new Roller Lash mascara, Benefit have teamed up with Elle UK magazine this month and are giving away a deluxe sample of their most hotly anticipated product since They’re Real. With it’s pretty rose gold packaging and being plastered to the front of Elle in newsstands everywhere, I don’t know one makeup lover who wouldn’t have run out and picked up theirs this weekend just gone.
I must say I am a bit in love with this mascara, it gives lots of length, separation and is removed easily. I particularly love this mascara layered to give a lot of drama, just as I wore it over the weekend:
The whole idea behind this product is that it is a curling mascara, designed to hold a curl and build up a curl with it’s curved brush. I am a fan of the design behind the product, the plastic bristled wand gives you lots of control, as well as its curve which really fans out the lashes.
I thought I’d show you the sort of finish you can get my layering the Roller lash up. First coat:
I always curl my lashes before mascara, and although it’s difficult to tell from this picture, the Roller lash really enhanced the curl my lashes had. One coat provides a delicate, everyday lash with lots of length and good separation.
On to the second coat:
Now is when things start to get even better; a relatively dramatic lash that would still be good for everyday. As you can see the mascara does have some clumping, but only minor, nothing that couldn’t be solved with a quick brush through with a clean brush. The length of my lashes was increased and the brush is still doing a really good job at fanning the lashes out. Oh…and look at the length of my bottom lashes!
And finally this is how Benefit Roller Lash looks after three coats:
Considering this mascara isn’t meant to give massive amounts of volume, it is actually performing pretty well at beefing up my lashes. Again, some clumping, but not anything that really bothers me.
Overall I think it’s a great mascara for length (something I always look for) and not bad at giving volume (doesn’t hurt). As I mentioned before, the Roller Lash is actually, by contrast to They’re Real mascara, very easy to remove. I was able to take mine off with few swipes of my favourite eye makeup remover (wanna know what it is? Have a read of yesterday’s post) with no pulling or rubbing – great in my books! But this did lead to some transfer for me under my eyes, something I suffer with regularly. For me I would just top Roller Lash with a little waterproof mascara on the bottom lashes.
Out 28th February 2015 (and will cost £19.50), I can’t wait to pick up the full size of Roller Lash, what about you? Were you impressed?
