Made From Beauty Me wearing Relentlessly Red
We have been spoilt recently at my local department store; with the introduction of MAC Cosmetics, Jo Malone and a bigger Channel counter. No, whilst my heart tells me to head over to Jo Malone and Channel and buy all the things, my wallet just isn’t cut out for that kind of workout!

MAC on the other hand, might not be Revlon prices, but it is a slight bit more affordable. So over the past few months I have been building my collection. Check out where I am in terms of my first MAC palette over here.

My MAC lipstick collection is coming along too. Today I thought I would share with you my small edit of some of my favourite shades they have to offer…

First up is Rebel, I have spoken about this one recently in my Winter Berries post, and it still remains one of my most reached for winter shades. I must confess, I travelled nearly forty miles for this lipstick. I specially suggested a romantic weekend trip to a town where there was a MAC counter, the fact that the weekend included a MAC counter will give you an idea of how romantic my partner found it! But I had a whale of a time! The reason why I didn’t want to purchase Rebel from the MAC website was because it is notoriously hard to photograph, I didn’t believe even my most trusted and favourite beauty bloggers (ViviannaDoesMakeup I’m looking at you) that the shade would suit me, until I saw it in real life. A dark, vampy blackberry-juice shade, Rebel looks great on a wide range of skin tones and I have got a lot of wear out of it since that fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants weekend!

My next purchase from the MAC range was from the counter a little closer to home; Modesty. A pinky brown nude shade I wore pretty much everyday throughout my last year of university. I often pair this shade with MAC’s Subculture lip liner, which matches my lips perfectly, for an ultra pouty, plumped look. Modesty is also my favourite MAC lipstick finish, a Cremesheen making it moisturising and slightly glossy giving the lips a healthy wash of nude colour.

My next colours were picked up in an ‘it’s summer and I don’t have a summery shade to wear for drinks tonight’ kind of panic. Relentlessly Red and Lustering are two of my favourite lipstick shades of all time. Although Relentlessly Red is not an everyday colour for me, I absolutely love this shade to make a statement for girly nights out throughout the summer months. It is a poppy, coral red in the stunning Retro Matte finish. Although the finish is a little drying, it does mean that your lipstick will last all night with only one touch-up needed halfway through drinking, eating and nattering. I must pick up a lipliner to match this shade, I’m sure MAC must have one, anyone got any ideas?

My final MAC lipstick is Lustering, a gorgeously warm pink that really brightens the complexion. After hearing Lily Pebbles raving about Lustering, I was determined to pick it up as it looked amazing on her. I wasn’t disappointed by this purchase in the slightest, Lustering complements olive skin tones brilliantly because of it’s warmth, however if you were a little paler I think you could still pull this one off easily. As a Lustre finish, Lustering is especially glossy, meaning it is incredibly comfortable to wear but you may need to reapply throughout the day.

Next on my shopping list is of course, the classic Ruby Woo and another nude, maybe something like Patisserie.

So tell me about your MAC lipsticks in the comments. Do you have any you think I should try?
